We have both mirabelles and plums in our summer house garden. We think the sweet plums go very well together with the more sour mirabelles. This is the recipe we came up with, but remember that this fruits vary a lot in sweetness and flavour.

1 kg plums

1 kg Mirabelles

500 g sugar

1 vanilla bean

Lemon juice from 1-2 lemons

Remove the fruit stones. Bring mirabelles and plums to boil with the fruit juice. Simmer for 30 minutes with the vanilla bean. Taste with sugar and lemon juice. Remove the vanilla bean. Store in sterile jars in a dry place, or in the freezer. Tastes lovely on fresh baked bread, with cheese, or on your morning granola bowl.
