The Sweet Life

I recently visited the southern tip of the Italian “boot” – Calabria. A relatively unknown region of Italy, nevertheless one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I am almost a bit reluctant sharing my whereabouts as it seriously is a secret paradise. Prices are relatively low, food (especially seafood) is fantastic, waters are crystal clear and blue – only downside is that is is hard to reach. Then again it means less tourists and crowds – and all of the above almost to yourself.

October was the perfect month to travel. We had warm days and cooler nights – and water temperatures that made it perfect for a swim.

The first half of our trip, we stayed at a new and superb hotel – or more of a b&b – with only 7 rooms. La Dolce Vita – translated to “the sweet life”. And indeed it was:) The view from our room was absolutely priceless, we had impeccable service from the hotel hostess Francesca – and location was right in the middle of the medieval town of Tropea with countless great restaurants and gelateria’s (ice cream shops).

We will have to come back!
