Barcelona has become one of our favourite cities, and here are the spots we like the most:
Poble Sec (Carrer del Parlament is our favourite street)
La Casa Gran Bed and Breakfast – Lovely rooms and organic breakfast
Breakfast & Coffee:
Satan’s Coffee Corner (El Born)
Flax & Kale (El Raval)
Caravelle (El Raval) – not nearly as crowded as F&K, and even better if you ask us.
Federal Cafe (Poble Sec)
Vermuth is mandatory for aperitivo. We love Calders Bar (Poble Sec), or else try Can Paixano for a genuine local experience, where you get a bottle of cava and snacks for under 10 eur.
Cometa (Poble Sec)
We love this place, located on charming Parlament street in Poble Sec. They have the best sandwiches, salads home made IPA’s, Vermuth and even the best cheese cake we’ve ever had.
Remember the spanish have dinner at about 10 pm 😉
Scandic tapas fusion kitchen (which can be quite funky!) and natural vines. Low key and great food. We love this place!
Hip (and hidden) pearl in the L’Eixample area. This is for a special occasion. The restaurant is so beautiful, and the food is great. You must the oysters.
Mosquito (El Born)
Must to try when in Barcelona! Here they serve tapas the asian way; dumplings, crispy duck, and kimchi – and a variety of nice craft beers. And super cheap!
Cecconi’s (Soho house)
Northern Italian food, cooked in an open kitchen from wood fire owens. Have a cocktail while you wait to be seated and enjoy dinner in grandiose surroundings with brick arch ceilings.
Ale & Hop
Actually we don’t go shopping on vacation, but the concept store Le Commercial deserves a spot in this guide. Reminds me very much of Colette in Paris. So many nice things.
Playa Bogatell is the best local beach.
MACBA – Museu d’art Contemporani de Barcelona
